Welcome to ArtWorks

A Community Arts and Culture Studio

ArtWorks is founded on the simple but passionate belief that the arts can strengthen community. Our schedule of activities reflects a broad definition of arts and culture and is developed from the interests of community participants. Workshops extend beyond the traditional into areas such as recycled and found-object art; gardening; and the integration of poetry and art.

We foster equal representation for all in the cultural life of the community through low-cost and free arts programming. All ArtWorks activities are open to beginners; no prior experience is necessary.

ArtWorks provides a space where people from diverse backgrounds can come together to share their interests in the arts and contribute to the cultural expression of Uptown. At ArtWorks, people can learn or teach new skills; use the arts for personal expression or to address social issues; build relationships with other community members; and engage in projects that build upon and celebrate Uptown’s unique history and character.

Located in Uptown at 4654 N. Racine (corner of Leland and Racine), the studio is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Red line el stops: Wilson and Lawrence.
